When news broke that a Spring teenager had died in a speeding ATV crash, family members were heartbroken. The young man had been speeding on his ATV when he lost control and crashed. He was not wearing a helmet and died from his injuries.
16-year-old Gian Carlo Iragorri was speeding on his ATV near Rayford Road just west of the Grand Parkway Thursday after school when state troopers say he hit a dip and the ATV flew into the air before it landed on top of him and killed him at the scene. His parents said he wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time.
This tragedy is a reminder of how dangerous speeding can be. No matter what type of vehicle you are driving, going too fast increases your risk of crashing. And when crashes do happen, they are often much more severe at high speeds.
For the family of the young man killed in this crash, nothing can undo the pain they are feeling. But hopefully his death can serve as a warning to others about the dangers of speeding. No one wants to experience the heartache of losing a loved one in a preventable crash. So let’s all slow down and drive safely.
