Delma Janeth Gorostieta was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States at an early age. She was raised in Oak Cliff, a vibrant yet underserved Hispanic neighborhood in Dallas, Texas, by her single mother alongside her two younger siblings. Delma became a trailblazer in her family as a first-generation college graduate, earning a full scholarship to Texas A&M University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in Science and minors in Geography and Spanish.
During her time at Texas A&M, she received numerous accolades, including the Undergraduate Student Research Publication Award, Association of American Geographers Annual Conference Scholarship Award, Gamma Theta Upsilon Honor Society Certificate, and the Texas A&M Dean’s Distinguished Student Award for Liberal Arts.
Delma earned her Juris Doctor with honors from UNT Dallas College of Law in 2022. While in law school, she excelled in advocacy, winning National Mock Trial competitions. Her passion for service extended beyond academics, as she volunteered extensively with the Dallas YMCA’s Youth and Government programs and the Dallas Community Lawyering Center, providing legal assistance to underserved populations.
Delma currently works at the Law office of Domingo Garcia getting justice for injury victims.
In 2023, her first year as an attorney, Delma achieved a remarkable milestone by earning a “Top 100 Verdicts in Texas” award, solidifying her reputation as a skilled litigator. She has also participated in 10 jury trials within her first two years of practice, securing a verdict exceeding $500,000 in one case. Additionally, she has successfully managed a docket of over 150-175 cases independently from start to finish, exemplifying her exceptional dedication and legal expertise.
An active member of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) for over nine years, Delma currently serves on its National Board as Vice President for Young Adults. She is also a National Board Member of SER Jobs for Progress, furthering her commitment to empowering Hispanic communities.
While not being a force in the courtroom, Delma enjoys spending time with her dogs, staying active through workouts, and exploring nature through hiking.
