On Thursday, March 13, 2025, at approximately 11:20 p.m., traffic on northbound Interstate 35 southbound (N IH-35 SB) near the 12900 block in Austin, Texas, had slowed to a near stop due to a work-zone lane reduction from three lanes to one. Because of this bottleneck, numerous vehicles were at a complete standstill. Without warning, an 18-wheeler owned by ZBN Transport and hauling an Amazon trailer approached from behind at speed and crashed into the stopped traffic, triggering a multi-vehicle collision involving at least 18 vehicles.
As a result of this catastrophic impact, multiple individuals suffered severe injuries, and several fatalities occurred.
