There will be a Public Hearing on the redistricting maps for the Dallas County Commissioner Districts this Tuesday, October 19th at 10:30 AM.

Location is the Commissioner’s Courtroom – 411 Elm Street, First Floor, Dallas, TX. 75202.

I am supporting the proposed Map C for several reasons:

  • Map C has the lowest deviation of the 3 proposed maps and our current map. This means the population in each district is more equal on this map than the other proposed maps.
  • The 4 commissioner districts in Map C are arguably the most compact of the 3 proposed maps.
  • Map C is drawn in a manner that takes into account the election results for elections held within Dallas County over the last decade. It considers communities of interest.
  • Map C is the only map that creates two districts that give Latinos the opportunity to elect the candidate of their choice.

Below are links to the current commissioner district maps and the 3 proposed maps.
