The recent Houston house fire on White Thorn Street, near Little York killed one person and caused heavy smoke and flamed to be released.
“They had two rescues. Unfortunately, one of them did not make it. We did have one transported to Hermann. Currently, the house is under investigation with arson,” Troy Lilly with HFD said.
The cause of the the fire remains unknown. Arson investigators will have to comb through what is left of the home to figure out what happened.
Neal Hambs, a neighbor, was awoken by dogs barking in the middle of the night. The fire is believed to have started in a back room where there was a kitchen and an old couch.
The Houston Fire Department had occupants from neighboring houses evacuated in a safe manner. Firefighters were on scene said the fire was difficult to contain because the wind was blowing to the fire.
